SHOPPING
Our year-round beautiful climate makes outdoor shopping as popular as indoor shopping. And there is no shortage of either one! Antique shops are found throughout the area and treasures can be found at various flea markets including Sun Flea Market in Port Charlotte. Or you can take a short ride for some world-class shopping at The Forum Shops in Ft. Myers.

GOLF
There are a variety of choices for the golfer. Did you know that the Charlotte Harbor Gulf Island Coast is ranked by Golf Digest as “The Third Best Place To live and Play Golf in America?” Kingsway Country Club, a Ron Garl-designed, par-72, champion golf course is just across the street from The Preserve? There are 20 golf courses within 25 miles of The Preserve.

EDUCATION
Education never stops and there are plenty of learning opportunities near your new home. There are colleges, universities and learning centers that will facilitate your desire to learn.

SPORTS
For the sports enthusiast, there are 7 Major League baseball teams who play Spring ball within minutes, and the city of Tampa offers professional football, baseball and hockey. Several minor league affiliates are also within close proximity.

FISHING
The Southwest coast of Florida has some of the best freshwater fishing in Florida. Fishing in Southwest Florida For deep-sea fishing the Gulf of Mexico is only minutes away and The Charlotte Harbor Gulf Island Coast, is internationally renowned as one of the world’s top sport fishing destinations. Popular catch includes: tarpon, snook, redfish, barracuda, cobia and grouper.

BEACHES & NATURE
The beaches near us line miles of the Gulf coast. Most are easily accessible yet quiet. Our beaches attract our local treasure of abundant birds, dolphins, sea turtles and other wildlife. There are usually no big crowds here, just plenty of white sand and waves crashing the shoreline from the Gulf of Mexico.

  • Harbor Walk. A multi-use recreational trail located in Punta Gorda which runs along the Charlotte Harbor and the Peace River. Running for two & a half miles along the beautiful Charlotte Harbor shoreline Harborwalk connects Bayfront Health to Fishermen’s Village. With mangrove forests, sweeping vistas, shops, waterfront dining, historical sites, and Laishley & Gilchrist Parks there is always something to see and do along this vibrant pathway.
  • Peace River Wildlife Center. The Peace River Wildlife Center is to contribute to the survival of native Florida wildlife through rescue, rehabilitation and education. Become a Volunteer…Help SAVE a “WILD” Life!
  • Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary & Rehabilitation Center. Since the mid 1970’s, Octagon has been rescuing and rehabilitating exotic wildlife. Their mission is to provide a healthy recovery and living environment for abandoned and abused exotic wildlife. Pack a picnic lunch and spend the day at Octagon, beverages available for purchase. There are multiple areas to sit, eat, relax, or cool off at the misting stations.

HEALTHCARE
There are several medical facilities closeby including Bayfront Health and Fawcett Memorial Hospital which are within 10 miles. H Lee Moffitt Cancer Center is close by in Tampa. The area offers access to urgent care centers, hospitals, emergency facilities as well as a number of VA Medical Centers.

AIRPORTS
The Preserve is located within an hour of Sarasota-Bradenton International and Southwest Florida International airports. Punta Gorda is about 10 miles away and Tampa International airport is approximately 90 miles away.

ARTS & MUSEUMS
There is no shortage of culture in Southwest Florida. The area boasts incredible performing arts centers and symphonies while also having several museums that you will want to frequent.

PARKS & RECREATION
Florida’s natural beauty is on display at dozens of parks in our area. There are miles of magnificent trails, preservation areas, and nature paths for hiking or biking.

  • Laishley Park. A pet friendly park that contains 17 acres with amenities that include a 400-foot fishing pier, parking facilities, interactive fountain, concert area & event lawn, Veterans Memorial Garden, and walking paths along Punta Gorda Pathways – Harborwalk. Waterfront restaurant and retail services are also available in the park.
  • Gilchrist Park. 11 acres stretched along the waterfront between the downtown and Fishermen’s Village. Gilchrist Park provides sweeping views of the Charlotte Harbor.
